FAT DISSOLVING INJECTABLES FAQ

How does fat dissolving injectable treatment actually work?

It uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, injected directly into fat cells within the treatment area, which disrupts the cell membrane and causes those specific fat cells to break down, with the body naturally clearing this damaged tissue over the following weeks.

Is this treatment permanent?

Yes, for the specific fat cells destroyed during treatment, since they do not regenerate. However, significant future weight gain can still cause any remaining fat cells in the area to expand.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies based on the amount of fat present and the degree of correction desired, commonly ranging from two to four or more sessions spaced about four to six weeks apart.

Can this treatment address large areas like the abdomen?

It is not well suited to large areas, since the mechanism works best for small, localized fat pockets. Larger areas are generally more efficiently addressed through surgical liposuction.

Does this treatment tighten skin?

No, it addresses fat volume specifically and has no effect on skin laxity, which requires a separate treatment approach if present alongside excess fat.

Is the treatment painful?

Most patients tolerate the injections reasonably well, sometimes with topical numbing used beforehand, and swelling afterward is typically the most noticeable side effect rather than significant pain.

How does this compare to liposuction in terms of cost?

For small areas requiring only a few sessions, cost can be comparable to or less than surgery. For larger areas requiring many sessions, the cumulative cost can approach or exceed a single surgical liposuction session.
