RHINOPLASTY FAQ

Can filler actually reduce the size of a dorsal hump?

No. Filler adds volume above and below a hump to create a visually straighter profile, but it cannot remove or reduce the underlying bone or cartilage causing the hump. Only surgical rhinoplasty can achieve true reduction.

How long should I wait after dissolving filler before having surgical rhinoplasty?

Most surgeons recommend waiting at least a few weeks to a couple of months after dissolving to allow swelling to fully resolve, giving an accurate view of the nose's true baseline anatomy for surgical planning.

Does my experience with liquid rhinoplasty help my surgical consultation?

Yes, in many cases. Having a direct, lived experience of what changes you liked or didn't like about a filler-camouflaged version of your nose can make surgical goal-setting more specific and efficient.

What are the signs a complication from nasal filler needs immediate attention?

Significant pain during or after injection, skin discoloration, or a mottled, lace-like skin pattern (livedo) are signs of a possible vascular complication and require immediate medical attention.

Is surgical rhinoplasty recovery much longer than liquid rhinoplasty?

Yes. Surgical rhinoplasty involves an initial week of visible swelling and bruising with a splint, followed by months of more subtle swelling resolution, with final results sometimes taking a year or more to fully settle, compared to the immediate, no-downtime nature of filler.

Do I need a different surgeon if I'm considering revision rhinoplasty?

Not necessarily a different surgeon, but specifically one experienced in revision cases, since altered anatomy and scar tissue from a prior surgery require distinct technical expertise beyond primary rhinoplasty experience.
